Answer Question
Tried 3 attempts to make epoxy type items, but never cured.
The first project was a river table approx 1/2" thick using the deep pour mas product ket of 1.3 gallon. Started first by sealing the area with the table top (MAS). Then approximately 1/8 to 1/4" thick pour using the table top product and giving a base for the bullet casings etc . Then I went to the deep pour for approx 1/2" deep leaving approx 1/8 to 1/4" for a final pour. A month or better went buy and the deep pour was not cured. fingers could press down and it was not hard.
After a few more weeks of trying spot tests using the table top and it was a hardened area but underlying was still not cured. More back and forth testing as I did not like the option that people suggest only to throwing the project out. No fixing options.
I did not like that answer so proceeded to overcoat with approximately 1/4" of table top. That hardened and I thought I salvaged it.
Flat sanded and trimmed the edges on the table saw. Big mistake. I gradually had a layer of sticky ooze coming out from between the 2 table top layers.
I tried a few other deep pour castings with the same product MAS deep pour, approx 3" round and 4" square . I kept the pour depths to less than 2 inch at a time. Same problem with the ooze when I went to slice into coaster the inside was not good.. I bought the MAS from Rockler up in Milwaukee. Was very expensive and through I was getting the best.
I have read and reviewed many comments and sites that talk about the importance of mixing, temp, etc and even with alll that care to the details the deep pour did not work, Could this product be from a bad batch. I bought it in September 2023.
Table top MAS appeared to work fine.
